200 vs 600 HUF: How Hungarian Propaganda Engineers Fear

(0:00) Which one would you choose?
(0:03) The answer seems obvious, but in Brussels they decided that this is what you must choose.
(0:09) This is because the European Parliament would, through an unlawful resolution, ban all member states from purchasing Russian gas and oil.
(0:16) For Hungary, this would mean the end of the utility cost reduction scheme.

(0:20) If it were up to Brussels, the utility costs of every Hungarian household could rise to as much as three times their current level.
(0:25) At the vote, representatives of Fidesz fought to protect the low utility prices that safeguard Hungarian families.

What is this 200 HUF vs. 600 HUF “water” shown under the video?

Short answer: it’s a classic propaganda and psychological conditioning trick, not information.

1. A false choice is created

The video opens with:

“Which one would you choose?”

You see two prices:

  • 200 HUF
  • 600 HUF

Your brain reacts instantly:
“Obviously the cheaper one.”

➡️ This is not reasoning — it’s an automatic reflex.

2. Emotional conditioning (price → politics)

That instinctive choice is then emotionally transferred onto a political issue:

  • water price →
  • utility bills →
  • Russian gas →
  • Brussels →
  • political enemy

The implied message is:

“If you don’t support us, you want the 600 HUF option.”

⚠️ This is emotionally effective but logically false.

3. Deliberate oversimplification (infantilization)

The real topic is complex:

  • energy diversification,
  • EU legal competences,
  • sanctions,
  • long-term price effects.

Instead, it’s reduced to a supermarket-style choice between two bottles of water, so the viewer:

  • doesn’t think,
  • only reacts emotionally.

4. Legal distortion

The video claims:

“The European Parliament would, through an unlawful resolution, ban all member states from buying Russian gas and oil.”

In reality:

  • the European Parliament
    cannot unilaterally ban member states from purchasing gas,
  • there is no EP resolution that automatically ends Hungary’s utility price scheme.

➡️ This is political narrative, not legal fact.

5. Scapegoating with a name

At the end:

“Yes: Bódos Krisztina.”

This is a textbook scapegoating technique:

  • personalizes the “enemy,”
  • provokes anger,
  • diverts attention from real decision-making mechanisms.

One-sentence summary

The 200 vs. 600 HUF water is not evidence — it’s an emotional lure designed to steer viewers toward a pre-selected political conclusion.

This is perhaps the most accurate way to describe what is happening in Brussels these days. They managed to prepare the EU–Western Balkans summit in such a way that the Serbian president did not even attend. No wonder. For four years he has been strung along, yet there has not been a single step forward in Serbia’s accession process.

A familiar situation: “rule of law problems.” Of course, when it comes to Ukraine’s accession, Brussels’ auditors have not identified such problems. President Vučić was right not to assist in this farce. And it is a disgrace for the Union and for the Brussels bureaucrats who convened the summit that a significant number of member states did not even come to Brussels yesterday.

But there will be more hubris today as well. The bureaucrats are vowing that we will not be allowed to go home until Ukraine’s financing is resolved. In other words, the financing of the war.

And this is something we Hungarians will not assist with. And we will stay here for as long as it takes. A few sleepless nights are not the end of the world. They are certainly better than war — wrote Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

⚔ The pro-war EU elite has already suffered a defeat even before the Brussels summit: Viktor Orbán and his allies have managed to have the issue of Russian assets removed from the agenda. Ennek a napnak csak az eleje biztos, hogy mikor lesz vége, azt senki sem tudja. Hosszú menet lesz, de felkészültünk, a formaidőzítésünk rendben van, nem fogunk elfáradni.

A magyar cél világos: kívül tartani Magyarországot a háborún és a háború finanszírozásán is. Brüsszelben a háborút nem megállítani akarják, hanem folytatni.

In Brussels, financing Ukraine remains the top priority. They want to push through joint borrowing and a complete ban on Russian energy, the latter by using legally questionable tricks in order to circumvent the Hungarian veto. These issues were discussed under the leadership of Szilárd Szalai, together with Joca Abkarovits and László Szabó.

❗Let’s not sugarcoat it: this is already part of war preparations in the UK as well❗
No matter how they try to spin it, for me it is clear that when a country’s chief of the general staff talks about “our sons and daughters needing to be ready to fight,” this is not a theoretical discussion, but a prelude to sending our children to war.
We will not take part in this, and we will do everything we can to ensure that Hungary stays out of other people’s wars.
