The leader of the European People’s Party, one of the most pro-war politicians, Manfred Weber, said he is glad he managed to convince Péter Magyar to support Ukraine. Otherwise, the Tisza Party could not even be a member of the People’s Party.
Whoever doesn’t march in step…
Hungarians want no part of this. We act according to the interests of the Hungarian people, not Brussels and Kyiv. We can say no to Brussels; Péter Magyar cannot.
They are too risky and unpredictable. That is why Fidesz is the safe choice.
Are you also pro-Ukraine, like the Tisza Party? Mr. Weber, who leads the People’s Party, made it perfectly clear that they only work with those who are pro-Ukraine. And you won’t believe who is in the People’s Party. Péter Magyar and his associates spend their days there.
The Tisza Party cannot wriggle out of this. This is yet another admission that we were right all along. They stand with Ukraine.
Hungarians, however, do not want a pro-Ukraine and pro-war government, but a pro-Hungarian and pro-peace one. That is why Fidesz is the only safe choice.
🔴 1️⃣ “Weber convinced Péter Magyar” – a claim without evidence
Technique: assertion without evidence + authority framing
“Manfred Weber said he is pleased that he convinced Péter Magyar to support Ukraine.”
❌ There is no:
- quotation
- video
- interview
- date
- source
📌 This is not a statement of fact, but a narrative.
It has a single purpose: to shut down thinking.
🔴 2️⃣ “There’s no other way to be a member of the People’s Party” – false conditionality
Technique: false dilemma + gatekeeping
“Otherwise, Tisza could not be a member of the European People’s Party.”
📌 The suggestion:
- “if you’re there → you are pro-Ukraine”
- “there are no nuances, no debate, no room for maneuver”
❌ Reality:
- the European People’s Party is not a unified bloc
- it consists of dozens of parties with differing positions
👉 A forced imposition of a black-and-white worldview.
🔴 3️⃣ “Those who don’t march in step…” – implied collective threat
Technique: implicit threat + conformity pressure
This half-sentence echoes a logic well known from the Kádár era.
📌 The message:
- “those who stand out get pushed out”
- “it’s safer to obey”
👉 This is not an argument, but psychological discipline.
🔴 4️⃣ “Brussels and Kyiv vs. the Hungarian people” – false dichotomy
Technique: us-vs-them framing
“Not Brussels and Kyiv, but the interests of the Hungarian people.”
📌 The trick:
- as if Hungarians ≠ the EU
- as if foreign policy ≠ national interest
👉 This is an identity trap, not policy discussion.
🔴 5️⃣ “We can say no, they can’t” – moral superiority narrative
Technique: moral superiority framing
“We can say no to Brussels, Péter Magyar cannot.”
❌ There is no:
- specific issue
- specific vote
- specific decision
📌 Only role assignment:
- we = strong
- they = weak
🔴 6️⃣ “Too risky and unpredictable” – vague fear-mongering
Technique: vague threat framing
This is a favorite propaganda sentence type because it is:
- not falsifiable
- not verifiable
- not specific
📌 Effect on the audience:
“better not to take risks”
🔴 7️⃣ “Are you also pro-Ukraine?” – collective stigmatization
Technique: guilt by association
This is no longer political debate, but a loyalty test.
📌 The logic:
- if you’re not with us → you’re against us
- if you question → you’re suspicious
🔴 8️⃣ “Weber made it clear” – false certainty
Technique: fake clarity
“made it clear”
📌 A classic trick:
- as if a disputed issue were already settled
- as if no alternative interpretation existed
🔴 9️⃣ “They cannot escape it” – trap narrative
Technique: inevitability framing
👉 Whatever the Tisza Party says or does becomes:
- “an admission”
- “evidence”
- “exposure”
📌 This is a rhetorical prison.
🔴 🔟 “Hungarians are not pro-Ukraine” – appropriation of collective voice
Technique: false consensus
❌ There is no:
- survey
- data
- public debate
👉 The speaker appoints themselves as “the voice of Hungarians.”
🔴 1️⃣1️⃣ “Therefore, only Fidesz” – closing command
Technique: cognitive closure
It always ends the same way:
“don’t think any further, the decision has already been made”
👉 This is not persuasion. This is control.
🎯 SUMMARY – WHAT IS THE REAL GOAL?
Not Ukraine.
Not Weber.
Not Brussels.
📌 The goal is to:
- generate fear
- narrow identity
- close off alternatives
- enforce loyalty
This is not information.
It is psychological warfare.
